Global Force Resource Ltd are working in partnership with a leading utility company to recruit Mechanical Fitters across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

As a Mechanical Fitter you will be responsible for maintaining and servicing the plant and machinery essential to the waste management facility in the U.K. or Ireland. Your role will be vital to ensuring the smooth operation of the site, contributing to environmental sustainability and safety.

In this position you will also hold the role of Baler Operative, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and basic maintenance of baler machinery, including Channel Baler, Twin Ram Baler or similar equipment.

This role is vital to compressing recyclable materials to specification, contributing directly to the companies efficient recycling and environmental responsibility.

The successful candidate will have hold an accredited qualification in their trade and will be supported by 3-5 years recent and relevant experience preferably in a waste management or industrial setting.

What the roles involves….

  • Maintenance: Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on a range of plant machinery, including balers, conveyor systems, shredders, excavators, and more.
  • Baler Operative: you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and basic maintenance of baler machinery, including Channel Baler, Twin Ram Baler or similar equipment.
  • Diagnosis and Repair: Troubleshoot machinery issues, diagnose faults, and perform necessary repairs, replacements, or adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize equipment breakdowns and downtime.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and environmental standards, including proper waste handling.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, including logs of inspections, repairs, and spare parts inventory.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other maintenance staff and engineering teams to address complex issues and improve overall plant operations.

Skills and experience required……

  • Qualified Mechanical Fitter or equivalent trade qualification
  • 3-5 years post qualification experience ideally gained from a waste management or industrial setting
  • Ability to work in waste environment where conditions can be noisy and dusty
  • Prepared to work at night, weekends and overtime when needed
  • Relevant qualifications in plant maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in plant maintenance, preferably in a waste management or industrial setting.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of heavy plant machinery and associated equipment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.

Remuneration Package……

  • Competitive salary raging from £36,000 – £42,000
  • 4 weeks annual leave
