• complete vehicle details on requisition order – kilometres, engine number, registration number, etc…

• reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts or assemblies, use various instruments to make sure they are working properly and put them back into the vehicle

Workshop Manager required for transport company, Canada

The ideal applicant will be a former Heavy Vehicle / Bus Mechanic who has progressed to a supervisory / management role and will be a confident, ambitious and adaptable individual

Essential:

Previous Experience supervising or managing a team of technicians with experience and skills in conflict management and resolution

Trade apprenticeship trained on Heavy Vehicles or PSV’s

Duties will Include:

  • Scheduling and supervising all workshop activities to ensure maximum productivity and compliance utilizing vehicle maintenance system
  • Ensure branch fleet is maintained to government and company requirements/standards
  • Manage emission testing and compliance, schedule vehicles for testing and generate monthly reports for accounting and maintain files as required by contract
  • Prepare and participate in yearly shop and environmental audits as scheduled
  • Renew provincially required garage inspection station licenses annually
  • Maintain records of employee files pertaining to: driver’s license, mechanics license, drive clean inspector license where applicable, other required documentation
  • Lead in the recruitment and hiring of mechanics, coordinating any recruitment activities and approvals with the Branch Manager
  • Supervise, evaluate and discipline shop staff when required
  • Perform annual performance review on all maintenance staff
  • Chair monthly maintenance staff meetings in an effort to promote open communication and safety and health in the workplace
  • Ensures shop and other employees comply with known safety requirements and safe working practices
  • May where permitted perform regular maintenance duties on equipment
  • Maintain and retains all necessary records and reports pertaining to environmental and health & safety issues

 

Salary will be dependent on experience.
